About

Illusio Creative is the brand name of UK based artist and designer Lorrie Whittington.

Lorrie specialises in painting, illustration and photography. The majority of her work has been commission based for private collections.

Having trained in the 80's in Art & Design at Amersham College of Art (Foundation year and Diploma) and subsequently Fashion & Textile Design at UEL in London (BA). Lorrie has been working freelance for the past 20 years or so in London and on the South Coast, and has been selling her art online since 2000. Lorrie has exhibited all over the world and her work resides in many private collections, including Europe, the US and South America. Influences range from the Renaissance, Baroque and Romantic, to the Post Modernist, and is deeply influenced by the iconography and art of the Celtic La Tene period. Her work embodies a diverse and eclectic flavour with a keen eye for colour, form and symmetry, mainly abstract in nature, and easily recognisable for her bold use of colours, texture and pattern.

Lorrie is editor of Chichester Creative Network magazine, an online magazine supporting the creative industries and individuals in the Chichester and West Sussex and is also part of the editorial team for UK Handmade.

Lorrie has a solo show entitled 'Against the Tide' in June at the Oxmarket Centre of Arts in Chichester, and another entitled 'Sea Dreams' at the Writers Retreat in Cobnor in August. Lorrie is also working on a series of illustrations for a children's book.

One of the main reason's I love Lorrie's work is her ability to draw in the viewers eye.
Every stroke seems so purposeful and flowing and always demands a second look.
I love her use of bold colour contrast and the way her designs evoke the beauty and meticulous detail seen in nature itself.

I am excited to see Lorrie's work recreated as a home accessory range. Her vibrant colours are cheerful and add a wow factor to home decor. The detail she incorporates into her drawings add a movement as well as interest; making her work timeless and captivating, since one's attention is caught by a new detail each time.

I love the use of vivid colours and texture in Lorrie's work. The inspiration from nature is clear and it brings life to these gorgeous pieces. It's lovely to see Tidal as a pillow cover, it really will invoke sea dreams!

I love the intricacy of the designs, the detail, and the apparently unhesitating execution of the designs. They just seem to .. flow.

Lovely pattern artwork, and it suits fine art (I have a tiny one on my wall!) or the textiles. I'm a particular fan of the sea and fossil inspired work, but it's all eye-catching.
